How not to get anything done…

One of my biggest problems used to be that I didn’t accomplish as much as I wanted to each day.  Was it due to lack of work to do?  Maybe I just didn’t have enough to keep busy?  Absolutely not.  I had many different projects to work on.

I really think that was the problem.  I had too many projects to work on, so I felt overwhelmed thinking that I had to be working on all of them at the same time…and in turn, spent a few minutes on each, and never really got much accomplished.

I have spent the past few months working on this though, and want to share with you the ways I have been able to get more done.

1.  Prioritize your projects.  What is the most important?  What is least important?  Once you decide what is most important, make sure you work on that first.  If possible, try to focus on just one project at a time, but sometimes you don’t have a choice but to work on many projects…so at least make sure you know which are the ones that should get your time first.

2.  Make a schedule before you go to sleep.  The next day, work on things in the order you set up the night before.  Of course since you prioritized everything, the more important things will get done first, even if they are not the most fun.

3.  Don’t feel as if you have to get everything done at once.  Set realistic goals and milestones for yourself on when you want to get things done.  This way each day you will see that you are getting closer to your goals, and you’ll feel better.

If you follow these simple rules, you’ll be able to get done a lot more each day, and get closer to your goals!

TrafficSwarm

trafficswarm.png

If you’re looking to get free traffic, you might consider signing up for TrafficSwarm.  It’s a free site where you can promote your website.

How it works is when you look at ads, you will gain credits.  As you gain credits, you can use these credits to show your ad.  These ads will be shown to real people…it isn’t automated or anything.  It’s a great free way to get some extra traffic.

It is possible to buy credits if you don’t want to earn them by looking at other ads, but if you don’t want to spend a dime, this is a great way to get some people to see your site!

Website Magazine – Review of a free magazine

Website Magazine

Last week I received my first issue of Website Magazine.  Subscriptions are free to those that qualify, and I was very interested in taking a look at it.  If you have been reading some of my other posts, you know that I have been looking for magazines that can help people like me – those with our own home based online business.

When I opened the magazine and looked at the table of contents, I was very excited.  The magazine contained articles about website security, blogging for dollars, building links, SEO, and content management.  These are all things I care about, and are important to my business.  I have not had time yet to finish the magazine, but look forward to it.

Anyone who has a website, or owns their own online business will really enjoy reading the articles.  And of course, who can beat the price?  Free is always good.  Definitely don’t take that to mean that the content isn’t great.  There is a lot of quality to the articles I read, and so far they have been very helpful.

If you would like to get your own free subscription, click on the banner above, and you can sign up.

Online Marketer of the Year – Get free tips from the pros!

onlinemarketer.png

Russell Brunson is hosting the Online Marketer of the Year Award.  There are 50 people who are “running” for it, and each of them will give a seminar.

Just some of the big names included are Robert Allen, Rich Schefren, Perry Marshall, Joel Comm, Yanik Silver, and 45 others.

Today was the first one, and Russell Brunson was the one who gave the seminar.  To be honest, I didn’t know what to expect.  I figured they would all be pushing their products, and wouldn’t really give any “real” usable information away.

Well, if Russell Brunson’s hour and a half long seminar was anything like the other 49 will be, all I have to say is WOW!

I was really impressed.  Now, let me tell you I have listened to so many tele-seminars…and never really got anything out of them.  This was completely different.  His goal was to help us, and I really think he did!  Of course, he did try to sell some products at the end… but he is an online marketer, what else would you expect?  I had no problem with it – especially since it was only during the last 10 minutes.

I have a whole page of notes that I took during the call, and can’t wait until the next one!  It’s completely free, and there are 50 seminars (well, 49 to go) now through the middle of June.  They are usually going on in the middle of the day, around lunch time – so that everyone can make it even if you are working.

I really recommend this, and so far it looks like a great way to get some free information!  Again, the link is http://www.onlinemarketeroftheyear.com and you will get to hear from all types of marketers, and hopefully we will all learn a lot!

How to get Free and Cheap Traffic (Offline)

We have gone over a few ways to get free and cheap traffic online…but how about advertising your business when you’re out in the real world?  There are many ways to advertise when you are going out, doing your regular business.  You can advertise while running errands or even shopping at the mall.  Here are just a few cheap and free ways you can advertise while out.

  • Wear a T-Shirt.  Create a T-Shirt (or you can order one online) that has your website, phone number, or any other important information you want to get across on it.  When you go out and run errands, wear the shirt.  Think about a crowded mall.  If you have an interesting or cute shirt…imagine how many people will notice it?  Plus, it’s a one-time expense, but you can wear the shirt multiple times, and many will get to see the shirt and hopefully visit your site.
  • Print out flyers.  If you print out a bunch of flyers with your website listed on the bottom (so someone can tear off the website address), you can put them up anywhere you find public messages.  This can be at the library, supermarket, laundromat, and other places.  This way, for just a few cents of printing out a flyer, many people can see your ad.
  • Similarly, get business cards.  You can make them or get them printed very cheaply, and then give them out to everyone!  You can even leave them places so that others will find them.  If they like what your business card says, they might visit your web site.
  • Put an ad in the local paper.  Usually a little ad in a local paper doesn’t cost too much, and you can get many people in your neighborhood to visit your website!
  • Advertise with your car.  There are many signs you can get specifically for your car.  If you drive around a lot, think about how many will see your car, and therefore see your ad.  When you’re stuck in traffic, people have no choice but to notice your ad!
  • Try welcoming committees.  Many towns have a welcoming committee, and will give a free gift basket to new neighbors.  These usually include free stuff, as well as coupons for local businesses.  If you can give away a free sample, or have a pen or something useful created with your website logo on it, you can get people to notice you that way as well.

As you can see, if you keep your eyes open, there are a lot of ways you can advertise when out in the “real world” doing your daily activities.  The more people who see your website address, the better!

Creating Your Own Product

If you are a looking for a way to make money on the Internet, you can create your own product.  If you have a lot of knowledge in a certain area, what better a way to earn an income than to share the information with others?

There are three main ways you can create digital products to sell on the web:

  • E-book:  You can create an electronic book that others can read on the Internet.
  • Audio:  You can create an audio file – such as an interview between two people that others can listen to either at home, or on the go.
  • Video:  You can create a video so that others can not only hear what you have to say, but see examples, or a step-by-step on how to do something.

The great thing about creating digital products is that you only have to create them once, and then you can sell them forever.  If you set it up right, it can all be done automatically.  This means that while you are sleeping, someone could buy your product and the product would be delivered right then to your customer.  When you wake up the next morning you will see the extra money in your account, and not have to do anything since everything was already done automatically!  By having your own product, you get all of the profits, instead of having to split them with someone else.

If you are looking for an inexpensive way to earn money on the Internet, this is a great way.  You will need to pay for a domain name, and get hosting…but other then that, all the money you earn is pure profit.
