Some Plusses and Minuses to Working at Home:
Pluses:
- You set your own hours.
- You work when you want to work, day or night, weekday or weekend, etc. so if you're a night owl, you can work late and sleep in.
- You can choose your own work.
- Depending on the job, you are your own boss.
- You can run errands during the day.
- You can take care of others - babies, parents, grandparents, or siblings.
- You can travel more often, since you can do your work wherever you are.
- You can multitask - do work while doing other things that need to be done.
- You don't have to commute to work - and you can work in your pajamas if you want!
- You don't have the extra expenses of commuting, work clothes, or work lunches.
Minuses:
- Your income is based on your work, so if you don't sell enough or get enough done, you won't make as much.
- There is no steady income - since unless you are working for another company at home, you don't make a certain amount per hour.
- You have to worry about health insurance as well as other job "benefits" on your own - 401k, etc.
- You don't get sick days or vacation days...anytime you don't work, you don't make money.
